Chatham House Rugby Tournament

Our Year 5 and 6 Rugby team headed down the road to Chatham House to take part in the first tournament of the year. They had trained hard since September and were ready to showcase their skills. They did not disappoint.

We were placed in the strongest group and would have to overcome some tough teams to reach the final. St Peter's were first up and after a lot of change in possession and some great tries, Holy Trinity ran out 2 - 1 winners. We were straight on to our next game against Palm Bay.  Another tight game with some great play from both teams, but again, Holy Trinity won the game    2 - 1.

After a short break we had our final group game against St Laurence-in-Thanet. Some superb defence and counter attack led to a 6 - 0 win for Holy Trinity.  We were in the FINAL!

In the final, we took on a strong St Joseph’s team.  It was very tight throughout the game, poised at 1 - 1 going into the last couple of minutes. Holy Trinity took the lead with a superbly worked team try, before Freddie made a world-class intercept and sprinted the length of the pitch to make it 3 - 1.  The final whistle went and Holy Trinity took the title.

Sportshall Athletics

Over the last two weekends, 43 Holy Trinity children represented the school at the local Sportshall Athletics qualifiers.

Firstly, the Year 3 and 4 team took on 11 other schools in Thanet.  For some of these children it was their first taste of competition at such a massive event but that did not bother them.

They ran as fast as they could, jumped as high as they could and threw further than they ever had before. When the races were over and the last javelin had been launched, we all gathered for the results.

Firstly, they announced the boys’ competition: Holy Trinity had come 2nd!!  The school's best ever result - but that was not all. On to the Girls. The girls’ team were crowned Champions!! For the first time since the event began, St Saviour's or Upton had not won the girls competition. HOLY TRINITY HAD!!

The overall winners were next to be announced, then 11th, 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th place were all called, no Holy Trinity. 6th, 5th, 4th and 3rd were called. We were in the top two. The points were 562 to 558, just 4 points between 1st and 2nd.

Holy Trinity had finished 2nd overall.  A fantastic achievement for a one-form entry school with only 60 children to pick from. The final placing was testament to the children's determination and commitment to training and improving.

The following week the Year 5 and 6 team took to the track to see if they could leave their mark on Sportshall history.

With the same commitment and determination to do their very best for the school, a good result was on the cards.

After all the running and jumping was complete the results were ready. The places were called out in order and Holy Trinity were still waiting. Top 3 were ready... HOLY TRINITY IN 3RD!!

What a superb result.  We also found out that as a school we had 3 of the top 5 performances in the field events.

Well done to all who took part, and thank you to those who supported the events!
